The radio show...

It's estimated that four out of five people dislike what they do for a living--and many hate their jobs. Think of it. The majority of us would rather be doing almost anything else with the forty, fifty, even sixty hours a week we spend at work. At The Career Clinic, we think that's a shame. And that's why we hope you'll join us for a new radio talk show! Think of it as your personal career counselor, one who wants to help you find work you're passionate about--and can offer you suggestions for getting out of the rut you may be in now. We talk to experts with advice on everything from discovering what you're good at to negotiating a salary once you've been offered a position. We also talk with people who've already found their dream job--who have tips on how you can, too.

The Career Clinic talk show airs Saturdays at noon Central on AM 1100 The Flag based in Fargo. To access the live web feed, click the station logo above. To watch a sample of the show, click here. Here's a look at the next show. The Career Clinic is also a radio vignette, and you can listen to a new one every weekday right here--or check our affiliate list for a station near you.

The book...

If you've ever longed for your dream job, welcome to The Career Clinic: Eight Simple Rules for Finding Work You Love! Based on The Career Clinic radio show, this book invites you to enjoy the inspiring personal stories of people who have made dramatic career transitions that led them to peace, fulfillment, and contentment. It also offers real-world guidance for how you can do the same. You'll learn about a fashion designer who became a psychotherapist, an attorney who opened a mustard museum, and a restaurant manager who followed his bliss to a hot dog stand in Alaska--as well as many others. The Career Clinic offers warmhearted advice and encouragement for finding work you love.

The Career Clinic is endorsed by Richard Bolles (What Color Is Your Parachute?), Jay Conrad Levinson (Guerrilla Marketing), and Marshall Goldsmith (What Got You Here Won't Get You There). Read what they're saying about the book. And be sure to e-mail us with your thoughts, as well!

The host...

Maureen Anderson is the author of The Career Clinic: Eight Simple Rules for Finding Work You Love. She's also the host of The Career Clinic radio shows. A civil engineering graduate of the University of Nebraska, Maureen held a variety of positions in management and sales before getting into radio. She attributes her successful career change to the training she did with Richard Bolles, author of What Color Is Your Parachute? You can learn more at www.JobHuntersBible.com.

Maureen is an award-winning journalist whose articles and essays have appeared in publications ranging from Radio World to Spirituality & Health. She is the author, with Dick Beardsley, of Staying the Course: A Runner's Toughest Race (University of Minnesota Press, 2002). She is also the author, with Jon Hovde, of Left for Dead: A Second Life after Vietnam (Minnesota, 2005), which won a 2006 Minnesota Book Award.

Maureen is also a public speaker, who inspires people to take a more active role in writing the story of their lives. She wants to help you have fun--especially at work, where any improvements are bound to help the rest of life run more smoothly. You wouldn't pull a young child aside, excited about a play date or the first day of preschool, to say, "Whatever you do, kid, don't get your hopes up." Yet at some point as children grow up, that's a common refrain: "Don't get your hopes up." As if lowering your expectations for how much fun you can have--at work, for example--is the secret to life. Maureen believes the opposite is true. Get your hopes up and don't settle for less than the life you were born to live.

Maureen gives talks about finding your dream job, silencing your inner critic, and acing your job interview.
